Design Notes

This promoter is inhibited by a protein encoded by the arsR gene, generating a negative feedback loop. When arsenic binds to the arsR protein, the promoter is no longer inhibited, allowing transcription to occur. Transcription of the genes following this promoter indicates the presence of arsenic.
